St Andrews Church adaptive reuse.
Handbridge, Chester
Conversion and extension of the former church building to provide 23 self-contained student rooms, a library and study room, associated landscaping and cycle parking, as well as a wider community space at the former St. Andrews Church, Handbridge.
The principles of the design concept are deeply rooted in creating a redevelopment that respects and responds to the identified historic value of the building and the surrounding conservation area, as well as
benefitting the local community and its economy.
Kirsty Henderson, specialist heritage consultant, writes in her report: “The new use of the property offers a communal use to secure its life and purpose for many years to come”
